I had insomnia last night. Or rather this morning. I slept at 4.30am and woke up at 10.30am before my alarm was supposed to go at 10.45am.

The 6 hours of sleep wasn't satisfactory too. I had 4 different dreams.

In a chronological fashion,

1) A man forcefully tried to inject me twice.

2) I was at a wedding. I was the bride. -_- And the bridegroom? It's for me to know and for you to find out.

3) My bro, cousin and I were supposed to meet my mum, aunt and uncle at Macdonald's.

4) I was in JC and I skipped Chinese lecture. =X

 

The 13.5 hours that I am awake, I accomplished 6 things.

1) Tidied up my room. So proud of myself Haha.

2) Registered online for my piano exam which costs $263.00. ='( So much for that 30 minutes... ='(

3) Practised cello

4) Studied Pharmacology (At least a little bit)

5) Almost finishing my book "The Heavenly Man" on my train ride from Boon Lay to Pasir Ris and back. I almost cried in the train~ =X

6) Cello lesson

And of course wasting my time doing mindless stuff like blogging about my night and day which aren't that interesting anyway.

Oh ya, I haven't taken my dinner... :(

To add on to my previous post, I'm gonna talk about a very common health problem in Singapore - Gastric ulcer (a.k.a Gastric)

Contrary to popular belief, gastric ulcer is NOT caused by irregular eating habits or lack of eating, rather it is caused by contaminated food with bacteria Helicobacter Pylori.

How the belief came about was probably because the pain will subside when food is consumed, hence people assume that the lack of food is the cause of it.  However, it is important to note that food can only relieve the pain and not actually cure it.

To cure it, you can take antibiotics. (And hope it works...) Alternatively, you can take drugs that neutralizes gastric acid or inhibits the production of it.

That's about all that I can remember about gastric ulcer.

My dad is especially particular about me having regular meals. He will be aggravated if he comes to discover that I haven't eaten a meal. Even until now.

When I was younger, he would call me up specially to ask if I have eaten. Ya to that extent. Thankfully, he stopped doing that now.

He also takes his meals at regular timings. For example, at maybe 12pm, he needs to take his lunch. So what happened was, once I woke up late and had breakfast at 11am. To my amusement/surprise, he actually wanted me to have lunch at 12 plus?!

HAHA. That's him, he's quite funny.

He would always say "Later got gastric then you know ah..." But now I know better heh heh.

 

So anyway, always remember to say GRACE before eating.

After being in Nursing for about half a year, I'm ashamed to admit that I still don't know how to spell "DIARRHOEA".

Diarrhoea.

D-I-A-R-R-H-O-E-A

What's with the "RHO"??? It's so redundant! And whoever can remember "RHOEA"???

Ok, reason why I bring this up was because I had a diarrhoea this morning. I suspected it was due to the wasabi I ate shortly after I woke up.

I deserved it right? HAHA.

Anyway, have you ever wondered why do we have diarrhoea?

3 reasons.

1) When the small intestine detects toxicity in the food we consume, it is triggered to flush out whatever that is inside.

2) Since most of the food is being absorbed into the body in the small intestine, failure to do so will cause retention of food (chyme) in it, hence water will be accumulated in the small intestine due to osmosis. This leads to watery stools.

3) Inflammation in small intestine triggers motility.

So hmmm, I think my reason is 3)??? Wasabi -> inflammation...? Haha whatever right.

And by the way, it's very common to say that we have "stomachache" when there is pain 'somewhere' in our belly... However, our stomach is actually located near our heart (hence the term "heartburn" during a reflux). So if you find yourself clutching near your belly button, the more precise description is "abdominal pain". Your intestines have probably cranked up.

7pm-8pm : Piano Lesson
8pm - ? : Rush down to church

Ok it's not exactly packed... Just vastly spread throughout the day...

Gotta go for piano soon but I feel like SLEEPING... Been zonking out a lot recently at irregular timings...

I'm really sleepy now...

It's our term break next week. It comes just in time man... I need to catch up on a lot of stuff.....

Alright off...

I was blogging, with pictures and all, and it cranked up. I'm not gonna do it again...

Off to practise on my piano SCALES now... Hmmm haha...

Happy Black Friday!

I received a stalk of flower, a Freddo, chocolate cookie and brownie today.

Of which I have eaten the Freddo, cookie and halfway through the brownie. Sweetness overdosed! (It's good that flowers are inedible... Lol)

I'm seriously gaining weight. Oh no. =P

Staying back in school tonight to study for Physio test next Thursday. I am planning to memorize on top of understanding... Will see if it works.

In the meantime, I am hungry and planning to log off and go for dinner.

And by now, I'm 3/4 way through my brownie. :)

OH YA by the way, I did fundraising for my Medan trip in school yesterday! And we raised a total of $900 in just 7 short hours simply by selling some small stuff!! Amazing.

Our booth was located at the Science Foyer where there was a bazaar and it was really fun meeting all my friends who walked past lol.. Of cos I got everyone to buy some stuff. HAHA... The medical students were very kind too! A lot of them supported us! Teamwork!

That was an eye-opener to the nus spirit! I'm hoping that the trip would be totally sponsored.

Here I am in the Science library, while my friends are happily swimming! Just had a 2-hour Physiology tutorial on Neurophysiology which I am totally CLUELESS of. And now I feel LOST and desperate to redeem myself. SEE, I TOLD YOU TO STUDY!!! YOU ASKED FOR IT.

Ha.

Both me and my dad woke up LATE today and in the attempt to get ready in 20 mins, I forgot to bring my wallet. So now I'm careless, cashless, cardless and clueless. HAHA.

Kinda missed Jeff kor so I smsed him for lunch (before I realised I have no $) but he's cooped up with work.

Fridays are normally crazy.

Today went like this...

9.30am-10.30am : Piano
12pm-6pm : School (NO BREAKS)
8pm-9.30pm : Cello
11pm : HOME

Talk about an eventful day...

BUT hahaha today was exceptional. I was really excited the entire day even while on the way home! Smiled my way home! 

Cos I'm just loving everything that I'm doing!!! I love piano, schooling and cello!!! And I love coming home too hehe.

In fact, the entire week was awesome!!! I'm so happy!!! HAHA.

2 major things are taking place.

1) My MOTHER will be coming to CHURCH with me this coming Sunday!!!!!!!!!!! Never before. I have been praying for her recently and while I was reading "The Heavenly Man" on Monday, I remembered a short scary vision I had a few months back about her. It was probably only 1 second short but man... It was scary. I shan't describe it.

I can still remember vividly exactly where I was when I saw that vision. I was walking and I froze. So I'm really happy that she's one step nearer to God now and on Sunday, she will receive her breakthrough. AMEN!!!!!!!!!

 

2) My trip to Serdang, Medan is CONFIRMED!!!!!!!! I almost couldn't get in as I had submitted my reply late but now I'm in.

So I'll be away for slightly more than 2 weeks in July. I'm so excited. Medan is a place close to my heart as I stayed there for 18 days with my JC in 2004... I miss the SHOOTING STARS most!!!!! We saw 11 of them!!!! It was magical!!

This time round I'm going with NUS and it's for a different cause. Though I'll still be staying in an orphanage and going to LAKE TOBA for R&R haha.

Lake Toba is actually a huge volcano crater filled with water. Its size is bigger than Singapore. How cool is that. But I had motion sickness and regurgitated THRICE on the way up... HAHA. However, this time I'll be going with nurses-to-be! So it's pretty safe HAHA...

Alright I still have 101 things to do at the moment...

School is getting EXCESSIVELY fun. I'm so looking forward to going to school EVERYDAY.

Does this sound ominous?

Ok so in a cohort of 74 people, I hang out with a group of 7-8 people. Out of these, 3 of them drive.

And some days we have LONG breaks.

So that's it. :)

Uni life is now 75% fun and 25% work. And I am beginning to wonder what the rest of the cohort are doing...

Like today, during the 3-hour break, we went SWIMMING in school. IT WAS FUN. My friend taught me how to swim! Hehe. Yaya I don't know how to swim the correct way yet... (To think that my bestie Cai is a swimming instructor and lifeguard. Haha.)

We liked it so much, we decided to make it a weekly thing. HAHA... This spells trouble.

So then after the swim, we went opposite to have Subway and headed for lecture.

It was "Therapeutic Communication" lecture about "Self-awareness" which apparently was too therapeutic that 4 of us at the back row fell asleep.

Tsk... WAKE UP YOUR IDEA AILEEN.

Oh and ytd... Lecture was canceled and school ended at 10am. (So gross right, Marilyn?? Lol...) We decided to go Vivo for shopping and lunch HAHA...

Come to think of it, we'll be colleagues in future so it's important to build good rapport among us.

I guess we're on the right track? =X

Except for my Pharmacology textbook which I spent $37 on... I have no book on hand to read. So I looked through my row of books and decided to finally read "The Heavenly Man" which I bought months ago.

Wow, I didn't know it was THAT captivating... And to think that I left it untouched for so long. Ha... It's about "how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan Province and used him mightily to preach the gospel despite horrific opposition."

It's dramatic. Life with God is always an adventure.

Speaking of which, I have been praying for my brother and mum. I'm overjoyed over what happened on CNY. But I believe there is MORE...

Yes, my brother can be a pain in the ___ and can irritate the angel out of me (if there's any lol...). In fact, it was just a moment ago, when I was playing the piano and he blasted the TV. Never do that.

Still, I've made a commitment to pray for him every time I pray. Everyone needs God. Otherwise we'd be like lost sheep without a shepherd.

My first attempt cooking my childhood soup!!! Lol... Something which my grandma and mum often cooked...

My dad said it was VERY NICE lol... Which I agreed too HAHA... But he said I should cook it for a longer period then it'd be nicer haha.

I should actually start studying by now... Like the sit-still-and-analyze-every-sentence kind of study...
